Filming locations of James Bond films
22 September 2026 · Explorer expedition
Five places a secret agent has skied, driven, swum or sailed through on screen — and which have been trading on it ever since, one of them to the point of renaming itself after him.
The five stops
Stop 1 · Switzerland
Mürren
Blofeld's clinic in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) was the Piz Gloria restaurant on the Schilthorn, 2,970 m; the production paid to finish the building. The Inferno, first run in 1928 by the Kandahar Ski Club, remains the world's largest amateur ski race. The peaks opposite are the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
Stop 2 · Italy
Matera
The Sassi were inscribed by UNESCO in 1993 and stood in for Jerusalem in The Passion of the Christ. The opening car chase of No Time to Die (2021) tore through them. Carlo Levi's Christ Stopped at Eboli (1945) triggered the 1952 evacuation law.
Stop 3 · India
Udaipur
Octopussy (1983) used the Taj Lake Palace on Lake Pichola and the Monsoon Palace (Sajjangarh). Maharana Udai Singh II founded the city in 1559 after losing Chittorgarh to Akbar.
Stop 4 · Thailand
Khao Phing Kan
Scaramanga's hideout in The Man with the Golden Gun (1974); it has been 'James Bond Island' ever since. Ko Ta Pu is the 20-m needle rock. Ao Phang Nga National Park was created in 1981.
Stop 5 · Jamaica
Ocho Rios
Dr. No (1962) filmed Ursula Andress's entrance at Laughing Waters beach; Dunn's River Falls is the terraced 55-m cascade. Ian Fleming's GoldenEye estate at Oracabessa lies 20 km east.
